The Winston-Salem Bar Crawl: West End Edition takes place Saturday, Aug. 10, and includes eight bars in the Burke Street/West End area of downtown with stops in the West Highlands and Ardmore neighborhoods. The registration fee includes a t-shirt, gift bag and transportation to each location via double-decker bus (courtesy of Royal Limousine).
Part of the proceeds from the evening will benefit Christmas Cheer, an annual service project sponsored by the Winston-Salem Jaycees. For more than 20 years, the Jaycees have partnered with a community agency to select 50 underprivileged children to spend a day Christmas shopping for their families and visiting Santa Claus. The goal is to raise $7,500 so that each child may have $150 to spend. The bar crawl is one of several fundraisers taking place through the fall; for more information, email email@example.com.
The night begins at 6 p.m. with registration at Burke Street Pub, travelling to Gatsby’s, Brewski’s, West End Opera House, The Tap, First Street Draught House, Carlisle’s Pub, and 2nd and Green before wrapping up back at Burke Street. At each location, people participating in the crawl are entered to win prizes, including a Jagermeister grill, an Evan Williams guitar, and a Burnetts bike and chair/umbrella set. Patrons are encouraged to download the event’s free mobile app to get updates on the participating bars, prizes, and more.
This year Castle McCulloch will have some of the performers from Mardi Gras at the Castle through out the night on the bus and at different stops. Plus, some lucky participants will win tickets to Castle Carnival
